Today, women only account for 7% of all pilots in the United States. In order to address this gender issue in the airline industry, United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) put together an entire female cockpit crew to deliver a new Boeing 737-900 ER narrow body aircraft to Chicago O’Hare Airport. The flight marked the first anniversary of uIMPACT, United’s internal organization which helps to promote and empower women who work for the company. According to USA Today, the flight lead by Captain Kim Noakes and First Officer Jan Lumbrazo was the first with an all female crew in United’s history. The passenger’s cabin was also filled exclusively with women United Airlines employees and flight attendants. For more business and financial news, click here.
