In Vanity Fair’s September issue, Taylor Swift really takes the opportunity to express the way she feel about music streaming sites that do not pay royalties to their artists. According to Business Insider, Swift uses the interview in the magazine to discuss her relationship with Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and her letter she wrote to them a few months back about its decision not to pay artists during Apple Music's trial period. Apple responded promptly to Swift's requests and decided to compensate the artist. Business Insider reports that Swift pulled her music from streaming site, Spotify, last summer after they ignored her concerns about the way artists are compensated. Swift is quoted in the Vanity Fair article as saying it was “ironic” that Spotify, a “startup with no cash flow”, which is a lot less profitable ignored her requests while Apple reacted immediately and with “humility.” For more business and financial news, click here.
