No longer will users have to struggle wiith Instagram’s (NASDAQ: FB) square format ruining the aesthetic of their photos or do extra editing to get their photos in the format they want. According to CNN Money, once users update the app to the 7.5 version, they will finally be able to post photos and videos in their original shape. The square format and original filters were designed to mimic medium-format film camera. However, Instagram wrote on their company blog stating, "Square format has been and always will be part of who we are. That said, the visual story you're trying to tell should always come first, and we want to make it simple and fun for you to share moments just the way you want to." The company found that one out of five photos posted to the platform are not in square format. Don’t worry if you prefer the original square crop, the update allows users to choose between square and not square. The update will also now allow the same filters use on videos and adjust the intensity similarly to a standard photo. For more business and technology news, click here.
