Amazon Opens up Shop in Mexico

Tuesday, Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced it is expanding to sell physical goods to the people of Mexico. Previously, only Kindle e-books were available to residents of the region through the online site, as reported by TechCrunch.

The launch of the Spanish-language site will feature many items from electronics and home items to jewelry and music. The site will also include an online selling option for Mexican businesses.

According to TechCrunch, the current Mexican e-commerce industry is small, but Amazon will have a large impact on the market. It is currently growing annually at 34 percent. The site will see competition from other companies including MercadoLibre, Walmart and Inditex.
